Placement Panorama

You are born. You are brought up in a very protected environment. You are given the best things available and affordable by the family. You grow up and folks at home feel itz time you saw the world and if you fight enough to win an opportunity, they will fight even more and arrange for every thing needed to go there, into that big, bad alien world you have never been a part of.
This precisely is every DA-IICTian's life till they join DA-IICT. Once you are a DA-IICTian, you learn independence, responsibility and ofcourse there is also other side of the coin as always. You are for three years in the fine company of your friends, you share your joys and sorrows with them, and infer that you have known each other very well. Then, suddenly comes the storm of placements in the tea cup of your college life.
If you think you have known a specific friend of yours very well, think again and have a second look. Look up for him/her during placements and you will discover a few undiscovered facets. These are not those grey colored ones, but these are ones you would least expect.
Placements, with PPTs, Offers, Compensation packages, also bring with them hopes and ideas for the future. I for myself have gone through the agony of hopes crunching down on not finding my name in the list for next level.
If you feel a friend of yours is very level headed and very calm, I bet he/she won't be the same during placements. You will see joy, sorrow, hope, aspiration, excitement, indignance all packed into one during placement. If you have seen Amitabh as that angry young man waiting desperately for a job and abusing the system for not offering him one and thought you had never seen such in real life, watch out for placements.
Indignant protests, joyous howls, sorrowful soirees, encouraging evenings, discouraging discussions all are a part of placements and all of these are what I have been witnessing since the start of this week.
As they say, adversities bring people closer. This was best witnessed in my case this week. Friends waiting frantically for other's results, the joy and glee in their eyes to see your name, these and many more are things I just simply can't put into words.
I could sense the solidarity in my group when the names for selected candidates were being called out. None waiting from my group had given the test, except me. When I was tensed and fuming, I could sense hands patting on the back and words of encouragement filling my ears. Friendship at its best!
Thats when I realised that what a couple of my friends told in their interviews indeed holds true for me too. My biggest strength and asset is my friends.

first of all congratulations for getting a job.. and really the essence of hostel life is joys and sorrows we are sharing for the last three years. some people are so closed to your heart that they have become a part of your life. and you want to share every moment of your life with them..
